"Having had several houses built over
the years, we found Cook Builders to be the most responsive,
conscientious and meticulous. Stewart is flexible and cooperative
throughout the process, from design to completion. If we build another
house we will use Cook Builders."
Fletcher and Christy Edens - 1780
"Stewart made my building experience smooth
and comfortable. I felt secure in the knowledge that Cook Builders was
going to help me make the right choices for my budget without
sacrificing quality or style. The honesty and integrity of Cook Builders
was prevalent throughout our building process."
Sam and Anne Zaffino - Southpointe
"We contracted with Stewart Cook to build our
house on Lake
James and worked out an
agreement such that I could do some of the inside finish work myself.
Budget was very important to us and Stewart was very
helpful and flexible to make this dream project happen.
The sub contractors he used performed well and turned
out quality work, and with Stewarts follow up we stayed within budget.
Overall, the complex task of building a house was a good experience
thanks to Cook Builders."
Phillip and Catherine Mousley - 1780
"Dear
All,
We are an English couple that came by Lake James purely by chance & fell
in love with it. It took a little while to purchase a lot as new
releases were being developed, but finally we purchased a great lot on
Old Wildlife Club.
We attempted to sit on our hands but we kept ‘doodling’ on napkins of
what our house could be like. We have built a number of new very
interesting period homes for ourselves back in the UK, one of which was
the renovation of an English Windmill & our present home a listed 1725
house which needed everything doing to it, these with a few commercial
buildings make us not amateurs in the construction business.
Our ‘doodling’ became sketches, our sketches became our own blueprints &
our blueprints became a constructional scale model. We met & discussed the project with the HRB &
finally decided to find ourselves a builder, this was two years ago &
everything was buoyant.
We did the final preliminary HRB with Kirk Bowden we surveyed & pegged
our own site, we then made the full submission, we were back in the UK
so Stewart went on our behalf, and it flew through.
Stewart cleared the site put in the foundations & had the deck on as
per our agreement for our return on the 1st February, the
complete site was mulched and not a single piece of rubbish was on it.
The outcome is sheer bliss
Once the relationship had been struck between Stewart &
ourselves, once he understood our attention to the smallest design
detail the relationship & construction went from strength to strength.
Stewart had the ability to contribute to design features &
keep us on the ‘straight & narrow’ of building code.
Not once have we had cross words, not once have we had to question the
building quality in either materials or craftsmanship. We would now
happily trust each other with our wallets & in Catherine’s case purse.
The result we truly believe to be outstanding. A true ‘Cabin in the
Woods’
which looks as if it has been there for a hundred years. Well the
exterior siding is just that, one hundred plus years old. The interior
is different in many ways some English architecture has gone into it,
even the kitchen sinks & door hardware have come from England.
Would we recommend
Cook Builders
to
anyone else? Absolutely, in a heartbeat."
